Continuing with the final set of photographs from the collection of albums featuring holidays taken with Herbert Woods in the 1950s. More from the 1957 trip where “Glitter of Light” and “Glow of Light” were cruising in company for the duration.
Meal time on board “Glitter of Light” in 1957.
Time for bed! The berths in the saloon are made up and mum poses in a rather fetching pair of polka dot pyjamas. On the shelf behind her is a copy of John May’s “Norfolk Broads Holiday Book and Pocket Pilot” which was published in 1952 and, to the left, is a rolled-up copy of Mickey Mouse Weekly.
And so to bed. The upholstery fabric is wonderful!
Pictured at Potter Heigham, this is B61 “Glow of Light” which was cruising in company with the family group.
Taken at the same time as the previous photograph, this shows the stern of “Glitter” with the footbridge to the entrance of Woods Broads Haven yard seen in the background.
“Glow of Light” pictured from “Glitter” as the two groups cruise together.
Coltishall common moorings, looking upstream towards the Rising Sun pub. I’m not sure which of the wherry yachts it is that you can see in the photograph.
I thought at first that this was also taken at Coltishall, but I’m not so sure now. I can’t quite get my bearings on this one yet – answers on a postcard please!
Dad, the twins, and friend sailing in the dinghy.
A second photo of the family in the dinghy.
An impromptu dinghy race between the two crews perhaps.
Mum posing in the dinghy.
The two holiday cruisers – “Glow of Light” ahead, with “Glitter” moored aft.
“Glow of Light” photographed from “Glitter” as they cross what is possibly Hickling Broad.
This must be the two holiday groups together at Hickling Pleasure Boat Inn.
Another photograph of the holiday party taken at Hickling with “Glow” and “Glitter” seen at the moorings behind them.
Mum, Dad and the twins on board “Glitter” whilst moored at the Pleasure Boat Inn.
One of the twins with “Glitter of Light.”
The final photograph from the holiday, and indeed the photograph albums, shows mum alongside “Glitter of Light.”
