Latest Additions To The Broadland Archive
On this page you will find links to the latest photographs, personal memories and
articles which have been added to the archive, plus announcements about new features
for the website.
If you read something in the archive which jogs some memories, or feel that you have a tale to contribute, then please do get in contact with Broadland Memories.
The new Broadland Memories website is launched!!
I am pleased to announce the launch of the new Broadland Memories website. It has
the same feel, but a brand new look and some new features. Along with a re-design
of the main header, the Archive and stories directories have also been re-vamped
which, I hope, will mean that it is easier to negotiate your way around the site.
One of the most important changes has been to the photo galleries where all images
are now displayed at a much larger resolution making it far easier to pick out the
details in the wonderful photographs of Broadland which have been submitted. All
photographs within the galleries have also been digitally re-mastered to improve
brightness and contrast and (where possible) remove colour casts to give better viewing.
It has also given me the opportunity to provide more information about those pictures
where I can and to add a little bit of history to accompany them..
The second new section is the Mystery Page where I will be posting requests for information on photographs which have unidentified places, boats and faces from Broadlands past. If you can help with any of these then please do get in contact.
As with any new website, there may be a few bugs and glitches! I hope that these
will have been ironed out in the testing stages but, if you do experience any problems
when negotiating this site, please let me know so that any issues can be rectified.
There are also two new sections to the Archive which you will find links to on the main directory page. In the Then & Now section you will find a selection of images from Broadlands past set alongside contemporary photographs of the same scenes enabling you to compare just how much, or how little in some cases, parts of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads have changed over the years. Over the coming months I will be adding more to these pages as I get out into the field to take the comparison shots!
New section of the Archive opened!
The Paper & Ephemera section of the Broadland Memories Archive is now open. Here you will find all sorts of printed material from Broadlands past including postcards, newspaper cuttings, boat hire invoices and stores lists, vintage advertisements and town and village maps. Many more items will be added to this area over the coming months!
