The inside of the Locks Inn at Geldeston in September 1957. The Locks had no electricity and was often cut off by floods at certain times of the year. The pub was lit at night by candles which were placed on every surface, a tradition which still continues today although a generator was installed in more recent years to provide power.

Susan Ellis, landlady of the Locks Inn, jots down the drink orders on her notepad. There was no bar at the pub, Susan would take her notepad out to a back room to collect the drinks for her customers.
