Unknown wherry c1920s.

The trading wherry “Lord Roberts” at Acle Bridge, painted by the Norwich born artist Leslie L.H.Moore c1958. Born in 1907, Leslie Moore was a renowned watercolour artist, a member of the Royal Institute of Water Colour Painters and taught at the Norwich School of Art. This postcard was one of a series produced by Jarrolds which featured his paintings of Norfolk and Suffolk. My thanks to Jeremy Moore for providing the background information on his father.

Barton Staithe pictured in the 1950s. The wherry “Dragon” can be seen on her moorings in the background. Also seen is the motor boat Javelin which was owned by a school teacher from Holt and, on the staithe, an ex lifeboat which was owned by the Rev. Poole, a retired clergyman who lived in the village.
