I mentioned recently that I was having a batch of old cine footage of the Norfolk Broads digitised with the intention of making it available online via the Broadland Memories YouTube Channel. Once again, I called upon the services of Video Impact at Loddon who transferred the films for me in record time – many thanks to them!
I am now beginning the process of editing the films which include a reel of mixed footage from 1967 (a recent purchase for the archive), and the first batch of footage from the Vardy Family Collection which I mentioned on the blog in December. I’m working on these one at a time and the first one has now been uploaded to YouTube. Filmed during a sailing holiday on the Norfolk Broads in 1967, it features two yachts – Reverie IV which was hired from Chumley & Hawke of Horning, and Rapier (formerly Scamp) from the Norfolk Broads Yachting Company. The colour has been preserved very well on the film and there is some nice footage of Broadland, plus scenes of Norwich Cathedral and Pulls Ferry right at the end. More to come in the near future, but I hope you enjoy this first new offering.
